Transaction banking has traditionally been viewed internally by banks as the rather dowdy, plain sister to the more glamorous Cinderella activities of the financing, advisory and mergers and acquisitions teams. Since the global crisis in liquidity struck, however, revenue from these more glamorous departments has dried up. More than ever banks are looking for the steady income flows that the transaction services divisions of banks provide.
